This very Harry Wedding styled shoot is brought to you by myself and Liz from Ballenger Farm. We had the idea of putting together a smaller shoot. Something everyone could attain. And, of course, we wanted it to be Harry Potter themed.
To kick things off, we went to Nostalgia, in Purcellville, Virginia, to find the perfect dress. We both knew we wanted something non-traditonal (so not white) and that would fit our theme. We spent hours looking at all the beautiful dresses the store offers. Seriously, if you need a special occasion dress and want something vintage and different go to Nostalgia. The owner, Silas, is wonderful as well.
After we had our black dress picked, I was contemplating if we should go Hufflepuff or Slytherin with the colors. However, once the models were on board, they basically decided for me since they are both members of House Slytherin.
With our house theme settled, I went to Flower Haus in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, seeking florals that would match our dark witchy vibe. I think Mark definitely picked up what I was putting down. The flowers were perfect.
With everything accounted for and the tent from Wild Tribe Co. on the premises, our next task was to fill it and give it Harry Potter vibes. We used a bunch of Liz’s rugs from the house, a rug from my great-grandmother, Harry Potter books, and other vintage and thrifted items Liz and I both already had on hand to give the tent a house dorm room vibe.
I really love what we came up with and hope you do too!
I think an explanation of the rooster in the next photos is needed, lol. So, Elvis is a resident of Ballenger Farm. He is really a very sweet Rooster. Unlike most Roosters. And, it is a Ballenger tradition for brides to get their portraits with him on their wedding day.
