My husband and I are expecting our first baby in May. So, I wanted to do one last hurrah trip before my life became sleeping, eating, and poop for a couple of months. Apparently, they are called baby moons. Although, when I see the word “baby moon” it’s usually tied to a pretty woman looking awesome in a bathing suit. The last thing I wanted then, and especially now, is to be in a bathing suit. So, off to Europe we went in mid-February sans swimwear.

Justin, my husband, has family over in Holland. We stayed with them in Arnhem in their cute little basement apartment, and our trip was more of a visiting family/sight-seeing combination. From there, we traveled all around Holland mostly by car since it isn’t really that large of a country. Especially for Justin and I since we use to live in Northern Virginia. “Two hours is far? That’s how long it use to take me to get to work!” was something we said numerous times.Holland Travel Photography ArnhemHolland Travel Photography ArnhemHolland Travel Photography ArnhemWe had plans to visit heritage sites and the Open Air Museum, but a lot of things were closed. Some we knew would be, others we weren’t expecting. The best thing about this trip was seeing wild horses on the island of Texel. I don’t know how wild they really  were since you could almost walk right up to them, but I appreciated them letting me take their photo for 40 minutes.Holland Travel Photography TexelHolland Travel Photography TexelHolland Travel Photography TexelHolland Travel Photography TexelHolland Travel Photography TexelHolland Travel Photography TexelHolland Travel Photography TexelHolland Travel Photography TexelHolland Travel Photography TexelHolland Travel Photography TexelHolland Travel Photography TexelHolland Travel Photography TexelHolland Travel Photography TexelHolland_final(10 of 34) copyI would have to say this trip was hard for me because we were visiting family. When I go on vacation, I don’t know how to relax. I have to see and do everything possible because I am in a new place that I may only get ONE TIME to see. But, I recognized that and tried to chill out. I don’t know how successful I was. Justin would probably say not very.

On a positive note, I did learn dogs are basically allowed everywhere. Jody was allowed to go into stores, restaurants, and even take a boat cruise with us in Giethoorn! America needs to get on this type of all access availability for pups ASAP.Holland Travel Photography GietHoornHolland Travel Photography GietHoornHolland-TravelPhotographyHolland-TravelPhotography2Holland Travel Photography GietHoornHolland Travel Photography GietHoornBecause most of the touristy things were closed, I think I disappointed my mom greatly. I went to Holland, and I didn’t see one windmill up close. We did go to Amsterdam, and we did walk around the Red Light District. But, that’s not something she’d really want to hear about.Holland Travel Photography AmsterdamHolland-TravelPhotography1Holland Travel Photography Amsterdam
